ATTN:  TODDLER (16mths - 35months) Teachers   

Course Description: 

Nemours Reading Brightstart! (NRBS!) is the only proactive early literacy and intervention program developed by a child health organization, to promote happy readers and healthy kids.  The NRBS! Infant and Toddler Toolkits have been approved by the Florida Division of Early Learning for use as a Comprehensive Curriculum at School Readiness sites.

Nemours Reading Brightstart! Early Language and Literacy Success: Toddler Toolkit is a flexible, developmentally appropriate curriculum that provides caregivers with a practical set of materials, strategies and experiences appropriate for toddlers, from 16 to 36months.

Teachers receive:  8 hours (CEU or in-service), materials kit, curriculum manuals, digital resources and 12 months of fun, interactive lessons and themes all planned out!

When: May 22,  4pm - 7pm   (Curriculum Training)

           May 23,   4pm - 7pm  (Lesson Plan creation and Curriculum Training)

           May 24,   10am - 11am (Optional Day - create mystery boxes)

Learning Outcomes: 

The learner will:

  • Intentionally guide language and learning through play and developmental opportunities
  • Introduce new vocabulary words and model language, literacy and communication
  • Create a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity, creativity and confidence through toddler-focused experiences
  • Guide learning using multisensory materials and hands-on, sensory exploration that utilizes fine, gross or locomotor skills
  • Develop a strong foundation for learning that will prepare all toddlers for future school and life success

Assessment Types: Pre and Post Assessments

Criteria for earning CEUs: ELCEC requires all learners to participate in group work, assignments, surveys, and end-of-training evaluations within each learning event. Attendance and participation along with the successful completion of any and all assignments with a score of 80% or higher unless otherwise stated, will result in the award of CEUs. 

Specifically for this learning event: Participants must successfully complete 8.0 training hours, pre and post assessments, post-training survey and actively participate in group discussions.  Participants will earn 0.8 CEUS for the successful completion of all requirements.
