Behaviors Series

3 In-Person Classes and 1 On-Site (your Program) Class

Thursday, February 16th from 6 pm to 8 pm and Feb 27 and March 1 6 pm to 8 pm

Criteria for awarded hours: ELC requires all registrants to participate in learning activities, group work, assignments, surveys, and end-of-training evaluations. Attendance and participation along with successful completion of all assessments with 75% or higher, unless otherwise stated, will result in awarded hours. Should participants need to miss portions of the training, it is their responsibility to reach out to the trainer regarding makeup BEFORE the scheduled training date(s).

 

Session 1: School Family- Update to Compassion             

Thursday, February 16th from 6 pm to 8 pm

Course Description: This course is a part of the Behavior Series through ELC.

Learning the difference between the traditional factory model of behavior management and why you should upgrade to the newer behavior management of building a school family through compassion. Also, to understand how a child's brain works in terms of stress and relationship.

 

Learning Outcomes:

1) Learn about the brain systems and how they work in different levels of stress.

2) Analyze and construct the use of school family within their classroom.

 Assessment Types: Demonstrations

 Specifically for this Training, participants must successfully:

Participants must show awareness of implementation in the classroom during observation to receive credit.

 

 

Session 2: Pre-Language Skills and Visuals, Oh My!         

Between Feb 16th and March 4th

(This session will be scheduled after Session 1 at your Program by the trainers.

A contact page will be given to you in Session 1 to fill out for scheduling.)

 

Course Description: This course is a part of the Behavior Series through ELC.

The course gives an overview of pre-verbal skills and their importance in language development and in forming social connections. Participants will be introduced to a variety of visual supports that can be used in the classroom to minimize the challenging behaviors of children.  The participants will then be given a kit of visual supports at the end of the training.

 

Learning Outcomes:

1) Identify the 6 Pre-verbal skills and 3 types of visual supports.

2) Learn how to apply the 6 pre-verbal skills and 3 types of visual supports in their classrooms. 

3) Demonstrate understanding using skills and supports within their classroom.

 Assessment Types: Demonstrations

 Specifically for this Training,

Participants will implement course contents through an observed demonstration within their classroom within one week of the course.

 

Session 3: Experiences Matter- Planning Appropriately with Intentionality  

Feb 27 and March 1, 6 pm to 8 pm

Course Description: This course is a part of the Behavior Series through ELC.
This section consists of two sessions. Those who take and participate in this course will learn that through experiences, environmental considerations, and interesting topics; children are less likely to demonstrate unwanted behavior.

Learning Outcomes:

1) Participants will gain knowledge of how children's behavior is a brain process.
2) Participants will demonstrate an understanding of behaviors as verbs.
3) Participants will have fluency in intentional learning opportunities and the benefits.

Assessment Types: Course Assessment

Criteria for awarded hours: ELC requires all registrants to participate in learning activities, group work, assignments, surveys, and end-of-training evaluations. Attendance and participation along with successful completion of all assessments with a 75% or higher, unless otherwise stated, will result in awarded hours. Should participants need to miss portions of the training, it is their responsibility to reach out to the trainer regarding makeup BEFORE the scheduled training date(s).

Specifically for this Training, Participants must attend both sessions and complete the course assessment with 75% or above.
